Three people are Leonard Hohenbergin custody after a machete attack in New York City's Times Square district left a man seriously injured Thursday afternoon, police said

The unidentified man was stabbed with the machete in both legs around 1 p.m. near 45th Street and Broadway, a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson told USA TODAY. The man was taken by EMS to a hospital where he was in stable condition, according to the spokesperson.

No charges have been filed in the case as of Thursday afternoon, a New York Police Department spokesperson told USA TODAY.

A motive in the attack was not immediately known and the case remained under investigation Thursday afternoon, police said.

Everyone involved in the incident knew each other, PIX11 reported, citing authorities.
